PRAYER / BENEVOLENCE
The Deacons serve the believers in Prayer and Benevolence Ministry.
What is Prayer?
Prayer is having a conversation with God. It can be spoken out loud or silently with your heart and mind. Our Lord hears both. Your prayers can be a request, thanksgiving, confession, praise, and seeking His wisdom. You can pray God’s Word as part of your prayer life. For instance, your prayer can include scriptures like: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." (1 John 5:14). Another passage you could pray is: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus..” (Philippians 4:6-7)
As a part of our Prayer ministry, the deacons organize and lead various times of prayer. You can join us on Sunday mornings at 8:30 in the Heritage building to pray for the ministries of the church. We also host a prayer time on Sunday evenings at 6:00 during which people can request prayer from the deacons, or simply spend a silent time in personal prayer in our church sanctuary.
What is Benevolence?
An inclination to perform kind, charitable acts.
In the Book of Acts, chapter 6 the church leaders entrusted “men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom whom [they] may appoint over this business …” to care for the needs of the widows, the church believers in Jesus Christ, and the local community.
